Why Caritas
Caritas is an old word for a particular kind of love: the kind that wills the good of the other. It is the principle that has organized our work from the beginning, and now it is the name on the door. GSD at Work is becoming Caritas Venture Co.
The work does not change. We still sit with your team, find the outcome worth going after, underwrite it, and build it with you until it is verifiably done. What changes is that the name now says why we do it that way.

The name for everything we do: outcome-based AI engagements, the tools we open-source along the way, and the ventures they grow into. Caritas for short.
The former name
GSD at Work
The name we built our first hundred engagements under, now retired. Same team, same hands-on practice, same obsession with the work: it all continues as Caritas.
The engine
ARLOS
Our operating system for outcome-based engagements. ARLOS structures every engagement as a bounty: a scoped outcome with verified success criteria, tracked in the open with the people doing the work.
What we believe
Build assets, not cut people.
The point of AI implementation is new capability that compounds, not headcount arithmetic. Every engagement leaves behind working software, a trained internal owner, and a team that is stronger than we found it.
Teach you to fish.
We take ourselves out of the loop as fast as we responsibly can. Dependence on your consultant is a bug, not a business model.
Everyone is both master and apprentice.
The people closest to the work carry knowledge no model has. The craft is combining that knowledge with what these new tools can do, and passing both on.
